Hard Refractory & Brick

Bricks

Fireclay High Duty

Fireclay High Duty bricks provide low thermal conductivity, good thermal insulation performance, high resistance to thermal shock, abrasion and chemical outbreak.

Fused Silica

Fused silica provides superior thermal shock resistance in both kiln furniture and molten metal applications. In addition to its high thermal shock resistance, fused silica has an extremely low coefficient of thermal expansion

High Alumina

High Alumina bricks provide high temperature performance, superior corrosion, resist wear and have high bulk density.

Insulating Fire Brick (IFB)

Manufactured from high purity refractory clays and other ceramic raw materials, Insulating Fire Brick contains carefully graded organic filler which is incinerated during the manufacturing process resulting in uniform pore structure.

Precast Shapes

Chiz Bros. designs and manufactures unique refractory pieces for a wide range of industry applications. Pre-cast shapes help minimize downtime in the field and can be easily made and poured in custom molds to fit any need. Shapes also come pre-fired to help save on furnace start up time.

Castables

A refractory composition that, when fully mixed with water, can be poured or cast into a mold or form.

Gunite

A dry or pre-dampened refractory composition that is pneumatically transported to a nozzle via a direct feed or pressurized gunning machine. At the nozzle, most or all of the water is added by the nozzle operator as the material is gunned onto a surface.

Plastics

A refractory composition made of refractory aggregates, clays and a bonding system that is extruded by the manufacturer into slabs or clots. At the job site, the plastic product requires no water, exhibits ” plastic” characteristics and can be rammed or tamped to form a refractory lining. Phos-bonded plastics will achieve reasonable strengths after reaching 600°F, while heat setting plastics require temperatures exceeding 1800°F to achieve workable properties.

Pumpables

A refractory composition that, when fully mixed with minimal water, will pump via a piston type concrete pump to a formed lining or shape.

Shotcretes

A refractory composition that, when fully mixed with minimal water, will pump via a piston type concrete pump to a nozzle. At the nozzle, the material is ” activated” and sprayed onto a surface by air pressure, where it stiffens and cures.
